Our Community Orchard for Felixstowe
We have recently been awarded a grant by East Suffolk Council to plant new fruit trees and bushes in publicly accessible areas within Felixstowe for the benefit of the whole community and to help increase biodiversity within the town. Once the trees and bushes start fruiting they will, of course, be available to anyone to harvest and use, and is part of our general ethos of getting people to grow and eat local produce as well as bringing local communities together to harvest and maintain the trees. Our map below shows our first sites for this ongoing project.
We started to plant our trees in February 2026 and hope to complete over 30 trees by the middle of March. As well as planting we need help with ongoing watering and maintenance of the new trees as they are scattered throughout the town, any help for trees near you would be wonderful! We need them to survive the first few years and they will need alot of watering, especially in dry periods.
Please do get in touch with any questions or if you have other locations where you would like to see fruit trees in the future, we hope that this will be an ongoing project to enhance our wonderful town!
